December 18, Christmas Open House

Despite the weather (and it wasn’t really that bad) a few stampers came to share some Christmas cheer and make a few tags and a gift card holder.

There was lots of time to visit and snack and talk of Christmas plans.

No Stamping in November!

And that was only because warmer weather beckoned.  Here are a few photos of what I was enjoying when the first snow fell in Devon…
AZ Holidays 152      Sunshine, palm trees, a pool in the background!!
AZ Holidays 157     There is greenery in the desert (besides the cactus) and mountains too.
AZ Holidays 220     Sedona is north of Phoenix – lots of beautiful red rocks!
AZ Holidays 260     The sunsets are wonderful and nothing says ‘Arizona’ better, than the Saguaro cactus.
Unfortunately it was cool for Arizona weather, but fortunately it was warmer than it was here!!!

October 24 Technique Class

Faux Seersucker and Magic Pastels were the techniques for October.

Everyone wowed over the Magic Pastels.  It was quite a transformation from a ‘pastelly’ coloured image to a really detailed looking image.

10-10 Magic Pastel project

And the Faux Seersucker was so easy and really looked like seersucker fabric!

Next Technique class will be in January 2011.  Christmas is only 2 months away!  Get busy stamping & creating!!

2010 Fall Fest!

From all reports it was the best yet!  It was a busy day, but there was still plenty of time for swapping, visiting and fun!!

Most everyone finished all the projects and some went home with plans to make even more, for Christmas gift-giving.

The swaps were awesome!  Some were Christmas themed, some were not.  Some were quick and easy to create in quantities and some were more suited to just making 1 or 2.  All in all – wonderful swaps… see for yourself

One was even a ‘hybrid’ gift card holder made with My Digital Studio and using the ornament punch.

Kim’s swap was the ‘Stamper’s Choice’ this time – lots of extra work involved.

Kim

We worked on projects all morning,

had almost an hour for lunch and then back at it with cards all afternoon.

We were surprisingly finished and out of the hall by 4:00!

Next ‘Fest’ day will be the third Saturday of May 2011.  Set the day aside and join us!!

September Technique Class

It isn’t a new background technique, but now that we have Frost White Shimmer Paint…  Faux Mother of Pearl is a wonderful use for it.

Make sure and try this Technique with the Champagne Shimmer Paint – almost looks like gold leafing!

It was Christmas at Malmo Hall in Edmonton on August 22.  There was a Buffet of 20 card designs to choose from.  Some stampers made one of each design while others decided to do multiples of their favourites.  It was a full and busy day!

Christmas in July Stamp A Stack July 17

Well it wasn’t ‘looking a lot like Christmas’ but it sure has been cool for what is supposed to be summer!
Today was the first step towards being prepared with a possible 24 Christmas cards (for those who attended for the full day) - and it wasn’t a moment too soon.  There is less than 6 months remaining till December 25!

New Catalogue Open House

There is lots to see in the new Idea Book and Catalogue and there were a few new things to see on the weekend.  There was one card design to make using Artistic Etchings, a wonderful new stamp set.  We also used some new colors – Pear Pizzazz and Daffodil Delight – as well as the new 1/8” taffeta ribbon and the Vintage Wallpaper embossing folder.

Everyone made 2 cards, one in each of the colors but just took one home.  The other one will be donated to Ronald McDonald House Charities – I’ll be dropping it off in Salt Lake City while at the annual Stampin’ Up! Convention!

Ghosting, Emerging Designs and Patterned Vellum were the techniques for June.  There was just time enough to make 2 cards but a sample of snowflake vellum went home with everyone.

Senior’s Week at the Devon Library

There were special programs all week long for Seniors Week. One of the mornings I was invited to hold a card-making class. We made the following bookmark and card. Not a new pattern but using new colors, stamps and accessories.

Grad Card

This was the year that my youngest nephew graduated. Time for a special card in his school colors of black & gold.

(Cased from a Jackie Topa card. Thanks, Jackie!)

May 30 Techniques

There were clouds in the sky inside Malmo!
Thanks to Gretchen Barron for 'inventing' the wheel - the cloud wheel that is.
Using the scallop circle punch and the large scallop circle die we made the cloud template.
Then we used the template to help create a couple of cards. (I had to case the Cheep Talk card as those 2 little birds are so cute!)

Birthdays for a Year – May 15

12 Cards - One for each Month!
There were 6 cards for the morning session and 6 more for the afternoon.  Stamping went smoothly and everyone finished the cards they had come to make!

Spring Fling May 11, 2010

It was indeed a FULL day of stamping & creating, but I think we all survivied.
Projects included a silver tea light holder, a butterfly note pad, an 'Inchies Plus" art frame, a Pendant Note accordion card and a small photo frame.

We Smooch Spritzed lots - the gold and vanilla leave a very subtle shimmer - and also used the Log Cabin with one of the Folk Flower stencils.

And, we played with the new Presto Designer Series Paper getting different looks by painting, sponging, brayering and spritzing.

The new Bitty Punches with coordinating stamps and buttons looked cute on a several of the cards.

Butterflies were flying freely!

And thanks to Angie B. for sharing her 'On Time' door prize so the Awash With Flowers card could be completed.  For some reason I left those stamps at home!

There were also some amazing cards swapped on Saturday - talented stampers were in attendance!

Thanks to everyone for pitching in at the end we even vacated the hall on time (actually 10 minutes ahead of schedule).  It was a fun, but tiring day and I am looking forward to Fall Fest in October - I even have one project in mind!!  Hope you will put it on your calendar.
