October 28/2017 A Stamping Retreat and Mini Christmas Buffet

We had a wonderful day of getting together with friends, enjoying a potluck lunch and doing a little paper crafting.

There were 5 Christmas cards to choose from  - just in case the attendees had no unfinished projects of their own to work on.  (Wouldn’t that be nice – nothing unfinished!)

Here are the cards…

17-10 Mini Buffet 1      This could easily be an All Occasion Card… substitute ‘Be Merry’ for other words and you have a perfect masculine card.

17-10 Mini Buffet 2     Everything glittered on this card from the flowers & leaves to the layer behind the lattice die cut.

17-10 Mini Buffet 3      With a little sponging and ‘direct to paper’ with an ink pad we created an easy night scene with silver embossing.

17-10 Mini Buffet 4     It’s really hard to see the gorgeous glitter on the crumb cake tree and star, but believe me it is there.  It was done with a Wink of Stella.

17-10 Mini Buffet 5     A very simple card with glitter on the roof tops, in the ‘snow drifts’ and up in the sky.  All done using the fine tip glue pen and Dazzling Diamonds glitter.

October 11 & 16/2017 3 Quick Cards

A different colour combination (for me), a punch used creatively and a few die cuts led to three pretty All Occasion cards,

September 30 & October 1/ 2017 Embossing Paste, with a Few Twists!!

We started out pretty simply with a couple of cards cased from the Annual Catalogue using the embossing paste with a stencil and then coloring the paste with a reinker and using it again with a stencil.  Then we got creative by applying the paste with the palette knife to the stamped ‘cappuccino foam’ image from the ‘Coffee CafĂ©’ stamp set.  It was a happy accident when the ‘coffee’ leaked through the ‘foam’!!  Then we mixed the paste with Dazzling Diamonds glitter and applied it to the tree to add a bit of snow to the image.

I showed a couple of samples made using stencils created from our dies and demonstrated another technique using the paste and an embossing folder.
