October 27, 28 Christmas Stamp Camp

With only 57 days left till Christmas, more card ideas were needed.  So... we made cards!!
A total of eight, with four in the morning and four more in the afternoon.

Two different locations (both in Edmonton – north and south) and two relaxing stamping days.

October 21, 25 Technique Class

A pocket card, a triple time card and a special fold were the techniques this month.  I also demonstrated a background technique using painters tape that turns out sort of like shadow stamping.  Messy, but nice.

October 15, Cardmaking in the Library

Three quick Christmas cards.
One of the photos shows a birthday greeting but it was a suitable Christmas card so we just stamped a Christmas greeting!  And the photo of the Snowflake card was taken before we added rhinestones in the center of each to give them a little bling.

September 30, Fall Fest

It was an early start – 8:30 a.m – but we needed it!  A jam-packed day of stamping, sharing and having lots of fun.  Door prizes, 3-D items, cards and a little show & tell display.  The day went by too quickly!!
Projects included a Gratitude Book, a Christmas Luminary, a scissor fob and a Christmas Ornament.
And of course we made some cards…

September 16, 27 Technique Class Embossing Folders… Beyond the Basics One More Time!!

As promised, three more techniques to take your embossing folders way beyond simple embossing.  This time we used a folder as a stamp, double embossed with two different folders and created a ‘Peek-A-Boo’ card.

September 10, Cardmaking in the Library

Three Quick Cards.  And with just over 3 months until Christmas, one of them had to be a Christmas card!!

Come join us October 15.  The class is in the Devon Library from 7-8 p.m.

August 26 Stamp Camp

A couple of Christmas cards and some All Occasion cards were the projects for today.  One of the cards was a ‘shutter’ card.  Looks plain when closed but opens like a camera shutter to reveal a surprise!  Another card was a tiny ‘easel’ card – the butterfly – and since it was so tiny, there is no envelope small enough for it.  We solved that by making one!  Love the layered matted snowflakes?  It is so easy, but so hard to describe.
The Christmas Quilt was designed by Catherine – THANK YOU!!  And thanks to Christine for the angle of the lacy card.  Just goes to show you that there really are no mistakes in card-making – just ideas for your next card!

August 19, 30 Technique Class Embossing Folders… Beyond the Basics Again

Yes, three more techniques with the folders.  And there are still more for September!  This time we made our own butterfly embossing folder, created a stained glass look and made a plaid background.

August 11, 18 Christmas Card Buffet

20 Designs to choose from – pick one or pick them all.  Make duplicates or singles.  Spend all day or just an hour.  It is your choice at a buffet!  These are the ‘Christmas in August’ designs we did.

July 29 Stamp Camp – All Occasion Cards

New tools, new stamps, new ink, new paper, new ribbon and new designs made for a fun time.  Eight cards were easily made in this all day session with plenty of time for chit chat and fun.

July 15, 26 Technique Class – Embossing Folders… Beyond the Basics

You would have thought that embossing folders were just for embossing cardstock.  NOT.  There are SO many other things you can do with them.  At this class we only did 3 techniques but there are more to come in August!  There were just too many for one class.  And this is the third class with the folders already!  Wax crayon resist, kissing and Core’dination embossing were the techniques we used for the three cards we made.

Saturday, August 11 in the Devon Library there will be a Buffet of Christmas Cards.  There will be 20 designs to choose from.  You decide which ones you want to do and how many of each.  If you can spend the day you can do lots, but if you only have a few hours then you can just do a few.  You get to choose!  Each card will be $2.75.

Let me know well before August 2 that you are interested in attending and I will send you the link to an online photo album showing all the cards.  You must sent me your choices by August 2.

Here is a teaser of 3 of the cards we will be doing…

Marbled Embossing Powder

An old technique updated to use with current product.  We melted colored embossing powder into a base of clear to come up with a beautiful marbled look.

June 24, 2012 StampCamp

It was a very windy day – we could hear the wind whistling outside – but all was relatively quiet inside.  Everyone stamped 8 cards and some stamped more with Angie leading the pack with a total of 30!  (And, done before almost everyone else.)
Here are the cards…

June 11 Cardmaking in the Library

Three Quick Cards!!!  And with Father’s Day coming up it was a masculine theme.

June 7, 2012 Senior’s Day in the Devon Library

Our project was, appropriately, a bookmark card!

June 1, Empty Shelves!!

There are lots of new stamp sets on my wish list, but with the retiring list being so large I have empty spots on the shelves.  This is a bonus for you… check out my Garage Sale stamps – there are quite a few!!

May 27 Spring Fling

It was a busy day, but we made it through all the projects and cards and even had time for lunch and some visiting!  Here is how we started.

From this…

To this…
            12-05 Mini Album sm5
With a few steps in between!

I was lucky to be able to attend an Arizona Spring Fling with Diana Gibbs and Rhonda Morgan so credit goes to them for this project.  The Starbucks card wasn’t included – it was a Timmy’s card instead!
                  12-05 Spring Fling sm007

In January I went to the Stampin’ Up! Leadership training in San Antonio and while there saw these 2 projects.

(Diana and Rhonda put their spin on the ‘plant poke’ and I just kept it spinning!)

Then we created a box and four cards to go in.  A perfect gift.  Here’s the box and a smidge of each card.
                         12-05 Spring Fling sm001

AND that was JUST the morning projects!!!

The afternoon was simple cardmaking that wasn’t really simple.  It included a small tutorial on creating your own color coordinated baker’s twine, a little bit of origami and some special folds.

Watch for Fall Fest, be part of the fun and save this date – September 30, 2012.

May 24 & 27 Technique Class

By the time we were finished with our cards if we shook them, they wobbled & jiggled.  Here they are, but to see them in action you have to see them in real life!!

May 14 Cardmaking in the Library

May 14, 7-8 p.m. is the date for this month’s card class.  Three quick cards are on the agenda.  Although none of them say Happy Mother’s Day, they could!
For all the Library events you can register at the Devon Library or just contact me.

April 29 StampCamp

It was a whirlwind of cardmaking with 2 stampers making over 40 cards!!  Time for lunch and still finishing before 3:00.

We used some sets that are retiring – Trendy Trees, Medallion, Live Laugh Love and Season of Friendship.

We also used some accessories that are leaving us - In Colors, Designer Series Paper, Finial Press embossing folder and Whisper White grosgrain ribbon.  But, we used the new Framelits, Blossom Punch and the oval Embossing Folder so a few new things along with the old.

April 28 Scraptastic Event at Riverview School

I was lucky to be invited to the first ever Scraptastic weekend at Riverview School in Devon.  It was a fundraiser for a new playground at the school.  Scrappers arrived Friday evening and most stayed till almost midnight.  The same thing happened Saturday with doors opening at 9:00 a.m.  Meals were provided as part of the registration fee and they were awesome!!  Saturday morning started with muffins, coffee and fruit.  Then class time or scrapping followed by lunch.  There was a choice of 3 homemade soups – Chicken Tortilla and Corn Chowder were the two I tasted and they were great – and cake and a fruit plate for dessert.  I didn’t stay for supper as my class was finished before lunch but I heard that Pulled Pork and homemade Black Forest cake was on the menu!!

The class I did was Saturday morning and it was a 6x6” Mini Fold Out Album.  Very quick & easy to make, but harder to plan the photo layout and embellishments.

 12-04 Scraptastic 1 12-04 Scraptastic 2 12-04 Scraptastic 3

There was a place for eight photos but I just used seven.  And as primarily a cardmaker, I have yet to do any journaling, but I will!!

April 22 & 26 Technique Class

Faux Quilting was the technique this month.  It is something we have done before but these were different ‘quilts’.
Stampin’ Up! makes the colour combinations so easy!  Just use their Designer Series Papers and the colours that they use!!

April 16 Card Making in the Library

Three quick cards is what we do and they certainly were quick cards this evening!  Everyone was done well within the hour.
