May 27, 2019 Love it, Chop it, Use it, Send it

In other words make a card using DSP and actually mail it to someone! Novel idea!!
We talked about Kylie Bertucci’s idea of chopping up designer paper into usable sizes as soon as it arrived in our stamping room instead of just lovingly gazing at the 12x12 sheets. Then we proceeded to make some cards with those chopped up pieces and use the paper in a few different ways. This included an origami shirt (as Father’s Day is coming up) and an envelope made just by folding the DSP.

April 27, 28/ 2019 Three not so Quick Cards

Perhaps a wedding card, perhaps a Father’s Day card and perhaps a thinking of you card. Or it could be grad, birthday and haven’t talked in a while cards. That’s the fun of cardmaking… change the sentiment and it’s a brand new card!
We were die cutting, embossing, masking and sponging with great results…

May 21/2018 Colouring Designer Paper

We used sponges with ink, Stampin’ Write Markers, a brayer and Blends to change the look of this very pretty Petal Passion Designer Series Paper. It was beautiful untouched as black and white DSP but the colouring changed it from beautiful to gorgeous!  And embellishing with clear & black rhinestones, silver edged ribbon, clear Faceted gems and multilayered die cuts took the cards up a notch or two on the WOW spectrum!

April 21 & 22/2018 Waterfront All Occasion Cards

We used the ‘Waterfront’ stamp set to create all 4 of these All Occasion Cards. The same images (mountains, water and trees) and ink (Pool Party, Smoky Slate and Tranquil Tide) were used for them all. The layouts for each were altered slightly and with stamping 2 or 3 times without reinking, the mountains looked different each time.
It’s a very versatile set!
(The birds come from the ‘High Tide’ set.)

September 30 & October 1/ 2017 Embossing Paste, with a Few Twists!!

We started out pretty simply with a couple of cards cased from the Annual Catalogue using the embossing paste with a stencil and then coloring the paste with a reinker and using it again with a stencil.  Then we got creative by applying the paste with the palette knife to the stamped ‘cappuccino foam’ image from the ‘Coffee CafĂ©’ stamp set.  It was a happy accident when the ‘coffee’ leaked through the ‘foam’!!  Then we mixed the paste with Dazzling Diamonds glitter and applied it to the tree to add a bit of snow to the image.

I showed a couple of samples made using stencils created from our dies and demonstrated another technique using the paste and an embossing folder.

Contact me if you have questions or would like to order some of these products.

May 28 & 30/2017 Playing with Watercolour Pencils

As part of this 4 card class, everyone received their own pack of Stampin’ Up! Watercolour Pencils, a blender pen and a case to hold everything in.  Then we played!
Using parchment paper as a palette and the blender pen we watercoloured inside lines made with white embossing powder.

Then we lightly used the blender pen on an image stamped on Designer Series Paper.

Stampin’ Up! had conveniently come out with Designer Series Paper that was just black and white designs allowing us to colour ‘Inside the Lines’.  (Blender pen again.)

And our last card used Stampin’ Up!’s Watercolour paper and with that we were able to use an aquapen to blend the colours.

November 26 & 27/2016 Five Special Christmas Cards

Since these cards are a little ‘fussier’ and took a little longer to make they might just be one of kind cards!  Nothing was complicated, just involved a few more steps.

A little fussy cutting always takes a bit more time!    A sponged sky, die cutting and Dazzling Details!

Unfortunately the glittery sparkle in the trees doesn't show up in the photo of this folding screen card.

May 28 & 29/2016 5 Pretty Little Cards

Well, one wasn’t really what you’d call pretty but it was a shaker card using the new Foam Adhesive Strips (p.182 in the 2016 Annual Catalogue).  They are a little thicker than the dimensionals and much easier to use on a shaker card.  The stamp set is new too – Marquee Messages (p.111).
The ‘tag’ card used new DSP from the Playful Palette DSP Stack (p.174) and some of the coordinating washi tape (p.179).
The old car was a ‘fancy fold’ card.  Pretty simple but something a little different.
More new DSP was used on the floral dry embossed card.  The DSP is Affectionately Yours (p.172) and the embossing was done with a new folder, Floral Affection (p.195).
The last card with the tiny balloon and colored pearls was from the April Paper Pumpkin kit.  It included a coordinating envelope that was already prescored so very easy to put together.
Oh and new crinkly ribbon – Emerald Envy and Peekaboo Peach – so pretty!

February 20 & 21/2016 Watercolor Wishes

We had great fun in Edmonton and again in Devon making up the Watercolor Wishes Card Kit from the Stampin’ Up! annual catalogue (p.155).  We took lots of time altering the cards a bit, making 5 new ones and enjoying a potluck lunch (both days for me!).  We left with homework – the alterations took up extra time – but I heard from a few stampers that they had finished up their cards over the weekend.  It took me a few more days, but I am done!!
It was indeed a fun time with great food, stamping and good friends to stamp with.  Here’s what I came up with…

February 22/2016 A Sneak Peak

For the '4 Cards and DSP' class in March we will be using "Birthday Bouquet DSP" from the Occasions Mini Catalogue.  It is really beautiful!!  The classes are March 19 in Edmonton and March 20 in Devon.  You must contact me to register by February 28 - yes this Sunday!! - so that I can order in the DSP in time for the class.
Here is a peak at one of the cards we will be making.  It is sort of water coloured but in a VERY easy way!!  (There is just a tiny strip of DSP on the inside - I didn't want to have anything else on the front of this card.)

Remember to contact me by Sunday if you'd like to make all 4 cards in March.  More information is on my website.

Happy Stamping! Wendy

January 16,17/2016 4 Cards and DSP

This month we used the Botanicals Bundle from the Occasions Mini.  Stamps, dies and DSP all coordinating.  The result was 4 lovely cards!!

November 15, 16/2015 It's a Blue Christmas

Well... the cards we made were blue!  But we had a lot of fun making them.  All the cards were Night of Navy, white and either silver or gray accents.
