September 22 & 23/2018 A Christmas Card Buffet

Four months until Christmas may seem like a long time away, BUT there are Christmas cards to be made, addressed and mailed!
Stampin’ Up! has made it easy this year with lots of coordinating stamps and dies in the Holiday Mini.

This first card uses ‘Peaceful Poinsettia 'with Blends to color.  The second card uses the tree from ‘Rooted in Nature’ with the ‘Hometown Greetings’ edgelits. Unfortunately the glittery greeting doesn’t show in the photo – a mixture of black embossing powder and glitter was used to heat emboss it.

This ‘Blizzard’ Thinlits die is wonderful!  Not only can you use the snowflakes that are cut out, but the cut up paper (or vellum as we used here) can be used as a background.  The Merry Christmas card uses ‘Joyous Noel’ DSP -  with its copper foil accents it’s beautiful. Add a strip of copper foil and a snowflake and put it on a layer of whisper white embossed with the Tufted embossing folder and a pretty quick card is the result.

This is a trifold card – hard to take a photo of it!  Gold embossed to match the gold in the ‘All is Bright’ DSP.

Tumbling ‘Spirited Snowmen’… I love snowmen!  The top of the card was EMBOSSED with the CUTTING Framelit from ‘Stitched Labels’.  It’s easy to do using the Big Shot Embossing Mats (p.221 in the Annual Catalogue).

Just the dies from ‘Peaceful Poinsettia’ were used on the first card. We cut two solid images from Very Vanilla and then the outline image from Gold foil. The gold glitter sprigs were punched with the ‘Sprig’ punch. The Merry Christmas card uses the ‘Dashing Deer’ Thinlits and the ‘Tin Tile’ dynamic embossing folder. A light sponging with bright copper ‘Shimmer Paint’ highlighted the design. Did you notice the little scallops on the left of the Merry Christmas banner? They are the tiny die cut snowflakes like the one in the top right of the card.

The ‘Spirited Snowmen’ couple are cute but the card is almost elegant with it’s forest of ‘Winter Woods’ trees. The glittery snow on the trees and the snow banks is hard to see in the photo but its there!!  The Making Spirits Bright card uses retired Stampin’ Up! layering star dies. The music, although not Christmas (Sheet Music p. 174 in the Annual Catalogue), makes for a joyful card.

May 28 & 30/2017 Playing with Watercolour Pencils

As part of this 4 card class, everyone received their own pack of Stampin’ Up! Watercolour Pencils, a blender pen and a case to hold everything in.  Then we played!
Using parchment paper as a palette and the blender pen we watercoloured inside lines made with white embossing powder.

Then we lightly used the blender pen on an image stamped on Designer Series Paper.
                                     17-05 WC 2 (486x640)
Stampin’ Up! had conveniently come out with Designer Series Paper that was just black and white designs allowing us to colour ‘Inside the Lines’.  (Blender pen again.)
                                      17-05 WC 3 (514x640)
And our last card used Stampin’ Up!’s Watercolour paper and with that we were able to use an aquapen to blend the colours.

April 29 & 30/2017 A Card Extravaganza

There were a variety of All Occasions cards available to make – some required a few more steps than others but all were easy cards.
There were enough kits on hand so everyone could make at least 1 of each design but it was their choice.  There were even a few extra kits available, so those who wanted could make more than one each design.
The first card involved dying the white ribbon to match the cardstock.  It was easy to do using reinkers and damp ribbon.  The card was folded a little differently – nothing complicated.

Lacy dies were used for the next two cards.

A copper dragonfly and butterflies were featured on the next couple of cards...

Then it was flowers – one of them was paper pieced using die cuts…

Then we ‘stamped up’ our own Designer Patterned Paper...

Next a masculine card…

And finally a cute one!!!

November 26 & 27/2016 Five Special Christmas Cards

Since these cards are a little ‘fussier’ and took a little longer to make they might just be one of kind cards!  Nothing was complicated, just involved a few more steps.

A little fussy cutting always takes a bit more time!    A sponged sky, die cutting and Dazzling Details!

A small snowball fight with a Spinner card.               More snow – this time flakes in the shaker card.

Unfortunately the glittery sparkle in the trees doesn't show up in the photo of this folding screen card.

May 28 & 29/2016 5 Pretty Little Cards

Well, one wasn’t really what you’d call pretty but it was a shaker card using the new Foam Adhesive Strips (p.182 in the 2016 Annual Catalogue).  They are a little thicker than the dimensionals and much easier to use on a shaker card.  The stamp set is new too – Marquee Messages (p.111).
The ‘tag’ card used new DSP from the Playful Palette DSP Stack (p.174) and some of the coordinating washi tape (p.179).
The old car was a ‘fancy fold’ card.  Pretty simple but something a little different.
More new DSP was used on the floral dry embossed card.  The DSP is Affectionately Yours (p.172) and the embossing was done with a new folder, Floral Affection (p.195).
The last card with the tiny balloon and colored pearls was from the April Paper Pumpkin kit.  It included a coordinating envelope that was already prescored so very easy to put together.
Oh and new crinkly ribbon – Emerald Envy and Peekaboo Peach – so pretty!

November 15, 16/2015 It's a Blue Christmas

Well... the cards we made were blue!  But we had a lot of fun making them.  All the cards were Night of Navy, white and either silver or gray accents.

October 17,18/2015 It’s Christmas in October

Yes, another buffet of Christmas cards and the last one this year.  A few cards had a number of steps so took a bit of time to create but everyone loved the results.  Some cards were cute and some elegant – I even slipped in a punchy card!!  The last card is a label swing card, the outside is snowflakes and snowflake designer paper and on the inside is… a snow family of course!!
The next class of six Christmas cards will be ‘A Blue Christmas’ on November 15 in Devon and November 16 in Edmonton. (There are only 4 openings left in Devon at the 5:00 class.) Cost will be $20.
