September 26, 27/2014 It was a Fun time at the Stampin’ Up! Conference in Edmonton

Two days of fun!

I volunteered as a helper on Friday for the Product Playground.  All attendees got to ‘play’ with the Big Shot, Arrows embossing folder, the Feathers Framelits dies, the Gift Box Punchboard, Blendabilities, the Under the Tree heavy weight patterned Designer Series Paper and of course stamps and ink!!  They also played a game where they had to stamp and draw while blindfolded with some very interesting results and then everyone got a little prize!  Plus in between all this, they had a chance to win more prizes!  It was great fun and no one knew until the ‘playing’ was finished what the Make & Takes were going to look like.  Here they are…

A Chevron gift bag all decorated up, a Gift Box made with the Punchboard using the Under the Tree DSP, two cards – one stamped with Four Feathers and coloured with Blendabilities and the other die cut and layered with embossed Coastal Cabana cardstock and Typeset DSP.

Saturday morning I attended the business class presented by Dale Hampshire, manager of Stampin’ Up! Canada.  It was informative and humorous.  (Dale’s impression of a rapper with the microphone was hilarious!)  Saturday afternoon was a party complete with a game show, prizes AND more Make & Takes.  These were a surprise again as we just created parts of the projects at 6 different stations and then at the end, put them together.

We used the Gift Box Punchboard again, circle dies and the Curvy Keepsake Box Thinlits to create some Halloween projects.  It was hard to photograph the curvy box which was fast & easy to make and so cute!!

If you have a chance to attend one of the Canadian conferences, sign up now – don’t miss out!

June 18, Birds of a Feather

We all ‘flocked together’ on Saturday to make good use of the Bird Builder punch.

Thanks to inspiration from Heather Stewart in Auckland, NZ and Valita from Macksville, AU there were more than just chickadees and cardinals as projects.  I tried for a Galah Cockatoo, a Fantail and a Tui (none probably recognizable to people down-under!).

Lynn Pratt has designed a number of different birds using the punch and they were all great to look at for ideas.

Here is what we made…

January 12 – Stampin’ Up! Leadership in Nashville!

Who would have thought that there would be snow in Nashville?  Certainly not the people who live there!  Despite the snow I had a great time swapping, sharing, learning, touring, visiting with old friends and meeting new ones and stamping – of course!!
I had a wonderful roommate from Michigan – Lori Watson – whom I had just chatted with on-line.  She had participated in a lot of swaps and was very generous in sharing them all with me.  My swap card had a Valentine theme but could easily be modified for another occasion.  I used Blushing Bride for the base cardstock, did some embossing with the BigShot and added just a tiny bit of stamping – and a little bling too!

Jane and I (along with about 500 other Stampin’ Up! demonstrators) attended the Managers Reception at the Wild Horse Saloon.  Here we are with one of the numerous colourful characters that live there!  We enjoyed a lovely BBQ buffet supper and beverages included coke, lemonade, iced tea and water!

And when the conference was over, we were off to the Grand Ole Opry at the Ryman Theatre.  It was a very entertaining evening (even though I'm not a fan of country music).
