July 23, New Things!

Had a great time in Salt Lake City at the annual Stampin’ Up! Convention learning new things, seeing new things and swapping cards to get new ideas.  This stamp camp used those new ideas, new stamp sets, new papers, new tools and a card from the new ‘Great Day’ Simply Sent kit .

July 19 Stampin’ in the City

Had a great afternoon with some seniors in the city making a Christmas card and demonstrating how easy it is to create home-made gift wrap from plain white tissue paper.  Thank you Jean for inviting me to join you!

Here is the card we created, very plain and simple but also very pretty.

July 13-16 Stampin’ Up! Convention

Time to head to Salt Lake City for the annual SU Convention.  It is always great fun and this year was no exception.  Had a wonderful roomie again this year (Hey Marilyn!!).  The local businesses always make us feel welcome…

 11 Convention 034

We both spent lots of time with our friend and up-line Jane.  For some reason both Jane & Marilyn thought they were always waiting on me, whereas I thought they both always had their times wrong! :)

11 Convention 036

Stampin’ Up! has a wonderful way of showcasing the products in Memento Mall that we can buy to help our businesses…

Lively entertainment opens the first morning of convention (really wakes us up!) and this year was no exception with stamping lyrics sung with a reggae beat.  We always look forward to seeing the latest fashions on stage and especially the shoe styles.  (I know – not stamps, but still interesting!)  This year not only was Shelley stylin’ but so was her daughter Sara and her granddaughter SIdney too!

All too soon it’s all over and when that happens and the last photo is needing to be taken, this is sometimes what you get!!

June 30 Technique Class

Bargello is a stitching (or quilting) technique that creates a geometric design.  Perfectly suited to paper.  We used different colours and patterns of paper, but an interesting look can be achieved by just using many hues of one colour.  It isn’t as complex as it looks!!

June 18, Birds of a Feather

We all ‘flocked together’ on Saturday to make good use of the Bird Builder punch.

Thanks to inspiration from Heather Stewart in Auckland, NZ and Valita from Macksville, AU there were more than just chickadees and cardinals as projects.  I tried for a Galah Cockatoo, a Fantail and a Tui (none probably recognizable to people down-under!).

Lynn Pratt has designed a number of different birds using the punch and they were all great to look at for ideas.

Here is what we made…

June 13, Card Making in the Devon Library

A couple of masculine cards this time – butterflies can be for men too!!  Stripes and ‘hardware’ give a masculine look as well.

June 8, Senior’s Day in the Library

A bookmark card is a perfect one for a Library class.  This one was inspired by a swap I received from a lady in Calgary.  I did the heat embossing ahead of time so all that needed to be done was some coloring, Big Shot embossing and putting together.  We even had a visitor from down under making a card to take home with her to Australia!
