April 28 Scraptastic Event at Riverview School

I was lucky to be invited to the first ever Scraptastic weekend at Riverview School in Devon.  It was a fundraiser for a new playground at the school.  Scrappers arrived Friday evening and most stayed till almost midnight.  The same thing happened Saturday with doors opening at 9:00 a.m.  Meals were provided as part of the registration fee and they were awesome!!  Saturday morning started with muffins, coffee and fruit.  Then class time or scrapping followed by lunch.  There was a choice of 3 homemade soups – Chicken Tortilla and Corn Chowder were the two I tasted and they were great – and cake and a fruit plate for dessert.  I didn’t stay for supper as my class was finished before lunch but I heard that Pulled Pork and homemade Black Forest cake was on the menu!!

The class I did was Saturday morning and it was a 6x6” Mini Fold Out Album.  Very quick & easy to make, but harder to plan the photo layout and embellishments.

 

There was a place for eight photos but I just used seven.  And as primarily a cardmaker, I have yet to do any journaling, but I will!! 

April 22 & 26 Technique Class

Faux Quilting was the technique this month.  It is something we have done before but these were different ‘quilts’.

Stampin’ Up! makes the colour combinations so easy!  Just use their Designer Series Papers and the colours that they use!!

April 16 Card Making in the Library

Three quick cards is what we do and they certainly were quick cards this evening!  Everyone was done well within the hour.

January 29 All Occasion Stamp Camp

We used lots of new product from the Occasions Mini Catalogue to create 8 cards – with one bonus Valentine card.  (There are NO stairs in our new location – Westview Community Hall!) 
The four morning cards used the new Framelits and sets from the Occasions Mini and the Sale-A-Bration Mini.  If you don’t know about Sale-A-Bration be sure and ask before the end of March.  It involves FREE product just for ordering items you need!

The afternoon cards used the Edgelits with corresponding embossing folders, the new Blossom punch, Vanilla scented Embossing powder, the really narrow Organdy Ribbon from the Sale-A-Bration mini and more new stamp sets.

The Bonus Card was one I cased from a sample at the Stampin’ Up! January 26 & 28 Technique Class

We learned one new technique and had a reminder of an old technique.  The new one I call Collaged Embossing.  It involves using embossing powder without any ink, heating it and dropping in some embellishments.  This time we used the Mica Flakes which were available in the Holiday Mini Catalogue.  Note the new ‘Blossom’ punch from the Occasions Mini Catalogue.  There are a couple more ways to use this punch – send me an email & I’ll tell you! :)

                                    

 

The second technique was just a reminder that any color of the Stampin’ Write Markers can be used with the VersaMark pen to create a colored embossed image inside of a stamped image and to just color up rubber and stamp an image.  We used two of the new scented embossing powders from Stampin’ Up! – cherry and vanilla.  The ‘doily’ is from the ‘Flirtatious’ Specialty Designer Paper

                                            

The next Technique Class will be in April and we will be making more paper ‘quilted’ cards – different patterns than in past.

A New Year with New Projects.  The three cards were a little ‘springy’ and stamps were on hand for those who wanted to adapt them into Valentine’s cards.

We had great fun making 3 enclosure cards in which to put a gift card.  They were really nice and came in very handy at Christmas.  Unfortunately I used all mine before I took pictures, so you’ll just have to believe me!!  One used the new Stocking Die and had a pocket inside.  Another used the Two Tag Die and the last used the Top Note die cut so as there was a fold at the bottom. 
Everyone got a teeny Christmas gift – in a cute little package of course – a ‘Handmade By’ stamp of their choosing.  Christmas cookies were available but we were so busy stamping no one stopped for snacks!!
